Evan McNamara: Clinical Services Manager

Staff Profile Image of Clinical Services Manager

National CooperativeRx is pleased to announce the addition of Evan McNamara to the team! As a Clinical Services Manager, Evan works alongside the clinical team to evaluate and monitor our innovative clinical programs and assist members with clinical questions. One of Evan’s main focuses is reviewing prior authorizations for specialty medications, a task that involves careful examination and evaluation of medications to determine if they are clinically appropriate for patients. His thorough assessments will ensure the right medications are placed in the hands of the right patients.

Evan was born and raised in Beloit, Wis. He attended UW-Madison for undergraduate and graduate school, receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree from UW-Whitewater. After receiving his pharmacy degree, Evan began working at his family’s retail pharmacy, where he prepared prescription medications for patients and verified the appropriate dosages were prescribed. “My retail pharmacy experience reminded me of the important role pharmacists play in patients’ lives. I will miss the relationships I built with my patients, but I look forward to forming new relationships and continuing to promote medication compliance at National CooperativeRx,” said Evan.

After five rewarding years in a retail pharmacy setting, Evan was interested in applying his knowledge in a managed care environment. While fascinated by the pharmacy benefit management (PBM) industry, Evan knew he was not interested in working for a large PBM. National CooperativeRx’s cooperative model and values intrigued him. He stated, “National CooperativeRx is fighting the good fight negotiating challenging contracts on behalf of clients to keep drug costs affordable for their members.”

When asked about his first few weeks as a clinical services manager, Evan stated, “Each day is a new detective case. With each case, I ask myself what the most cost-effective approach is for the patient while still effectively managing their clinical needs.” He is looking forward to analyzing more cases and furthering his knowledge of the PBM and managed care industry.

Evan and his wife Rachel met in pharmacy school. They reside in Beloit with their daughter Scarlett, and Labrador retriever, Bucky. Evan enjoys being outdoors, hunting, hiking, and taking pontoon rides on the Rock River. Camping is his newest hobby. He recently purchased a camper and took his family on their first trip to Wyalusing State Park near Prairie du Chien, Wis., where they enjoyed hiking to the top of a bluff that overlooked the Mississippi River.

Welcome to the National CooperativeRx team, Evan!
