Larry Richardson, Board Chair, kicked off the largest National CooperativeRx Annual Meeting in history by welcoming the audience and introducing our board members.
Josh Bindl, CEO, highlighted National CooperativeRx’s membership growth and financial stability. Bindl welcomed Wayne Salverda, Senior Director of Clinical Services, to the stage to present on what the Cooperative is doing to protect members’ dollars in the current market. Salverda discussed tactics the Cooperative is employing to provide the right drugs to the right patients, without overpaying for unnecessary drugs or services.
Bindl also touched on the new contract with CVS Health:
- 8.4% Savings Beginning January 1, 2019
- Additional Savings in 2020 & 2021
- Automatic Annual Market Checks
- Service Enhancements, Including Additional Dedicated CVS Account Managers
- Strengthened Definitions
- 100% Rebates Returned to Members (rebates reimburse around 20% of drug spend)
Ted Talk speaker Dr. Jennifer Adair took the stage to outline her work in gene therapy. Her presentation, Gene Therapy: Using DNA to Treat Diseases, was an audience favorite. All attendees marked her as Excellent in the meeting survey, with many attendees putting stars next to the word Excellent to denote how much they enjoyed her topic.
Following Dr. Adair was Rob O’Brien, RPh, Vice President of Specialty Solutions with CVS Health. His presentation focused on value-based pharmacy management and gave insight into emerging trends in the pharmacy benefit world.
The meeting ended with National CooperativeRx team members showcasing Member Success Stories. They reviewed some of the Cooperative’s members who were performing at a high level, and then dove into the data to see how they’d gained their achievements.
