Shining the Spotlight on: Jocelyn Kerl, PharmD.

Most people envision a pharmacist wearing a white lab coat refilling prescriptions at the local pharmacy. Jocelyn Kerl, the newest clinical services manager at National CooperativeRx, proves that’s not always the case. Her role within our organization consists of account management and plan design, while keeping our members’ best interests at heart. Along with our other pharmacist and strategic account executives, Jocelyn is responsible for making sure our members get the best value for their dollar.

With us since January, Jocelyn isn’t just an asset to our membership and our team, but also our community. She was recently chosen as one of InBusiness magazine’s 40 Under 40 — a huge honor, as it highlights rising young business stars with a demonstrated commitment to Greater Madison through their professional pursuits, board involvement, and volunteerism.

I recently asked her some questions to discover more about her role and what lead her to become the woman she is today.

What inspired you to pursue a career in pharmacy?

I was always good at math and science in school. Right before college, I heard that there was a major shortage of pharmacists. I figured that was a field I could excel in, and the plus side was no blood or guts involved!

What is the most rewarding part of working at National CooperativeRx?

Coming from a hospital setting, I felt like I was a small fish in a big sea. At National CooperativeRx, I am able to work more directly with clients and provide a higher level of mentoring and problem-solving, most of which comes through the plan design aspect of my job.

When you’re not being a rockstar at work and within the community, what do you enjoy doing?

I love to do anything outdoors, as well as cook and travel. One of my favorite vacations was to California for an all-girls trip. We spent the week surfing, paddle-boarding, kick-boxing and soaking up the warm weather. Washington D.C. is also one of my favorite spots to visit.

We’re thankful to have such a dedicated and inspirational person on our team and look forward to the value Jocelyn will add to our Cooperative.
