Mike Sugden: End of an Era

Staff Profile: Mike Sugden

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of our National Sales Leader, Mike Sugden. Mike will retire at the end of 2018 after 42 years in various sales leadership roles within the health insurance industry. Mike joined our team in 2012 and played a crucial part in making the Cooperative what it is today. During his tenure, our membership has grown significantly, and we’ve expanded our broker distribution partnerships nationwide. Although it’s sad to see him leave, we’re excited for Mike – he certainly deserves a long and happy retirement.

“The most rewarding part of my job has been working with such a dedicated group of individuals,” says Mike. “I’ve also enjoyed mentoring and watching the growth of our young sales team. I have no doubt they will continue performing at a high level after my departure.”

Josh Bindl, CEO, states, “Mike is a great asset to the Cooperative. The knowledge he has accumulated throughout his career is invaluable. I’ll miss his daily enthusiasm, go-getter attitude and sense of humor.”

When someone retires, the question is always “What will you do now?” For Mike, the answer is a mile long.

“Besides the usual spending more time with children and grandchildren and working on my golf game, I’m eager to become more involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Every year, I participate in a 100-mile bike race to raise money for JDRF and I hope to do more of these. I’d also like to go on a bike tour of Italy.”

Although Mike has big plans for his next phase in life, leaving National CooperativeRx will be bittersweet. “I’ll greatly miss the daily interactions with co-workers and our distribution partners.”

From everyone at National CooperativeRx, we wish you all the best in this next chapter!
